When we asked to make LAVs more useful did we ask them to become the best way to farm kills? When we asked to tone down the Viziam LR, did we ask to make it a laser pointer? When we asked to refine weapon ranges and provide more of a reason to spec into something besides AR, did we ask to make the tac AR the only AR worth using? Did we ask to screw up aiming even more?
We asked for some sort of matchmaking for pub matches so that new and casual player wouldn't be gang raped constantly. We got the academy instead, which while helping new players, does nothing to address rampant pub stomping after earning the required WPs. We asked to make the skill system more intuitive and instead received more sp sinks and wasted abilities. The damn needle is still borked. We still get stuck on terrain. etc. etc. etc.
There's a difference between hearing player feedback and understanding it.
Don't lay this abortion at our feet.
This post right here is pure win. +1
It is impossible for the players to ruin the game with feedback alone, we are not the ones coding the game and applying changes, CCP is. How CCP interprets and implements our suggestions is up to them, not us. What suggestions and feedback they use, if any, is their choice and their choice alone.
Pretty much every nerf or buff they have applied has been too much or too little. Broad changes are great for a beta and all, but when it comes to the final product you are only supposed to make minute adjustments until it is just right. Not nerf it into oblivion where it is useless, or buff it to extreme levels in which it is crazy OP.
With a game like Dust where you have to spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of SP just for an extra 5% shields, I am surprised they nerf and buff so liberally. I mean it takes a crap ton of SP and time just to get an extra 10-15% of something, which may take weeks or months to acquire. We are used to gaining small increments in things, and any changes to the balance of weapons, vehicles, or whatever, need to be made in small increments, not giant steps (unless it requires a giant step, which is rare).
CCP has nobody to blame but themselves for the success or failure of this game when it comes to applying changes.
